Lab Seating

Lab seating from Pacific Ergonomics — over two decades specifying chairs and stools across dozens of manufacturers for research, clinical, pharmaceutical, and industrial bench environments nationwide. Getting lab seating right takes more than picking a chair from a catalog. We start with a call to understand your project goals, then advise on the right solution for your team.

Pacific Ergonomics also provides ergonomic lab assessments as a separate service — a comprehensive evaluation that goes beyond seating to examine all workstation types within your lab, postures, lab table setup, tasks performed, and MSD risk across your entire facility.

How to Get Started

The first step is a call with our team to understand your lab seating project — your goals, your environment, and what is not working with your current setup. From there, we advise on the optimal solution based on your bench heights, cleaning protocol, task types, how long your team is seated, user population, and floor type.

Lab seating is not a simple product purchase. The right chair for a pharmaceutical bench with aggressive chemical cleaning is different from what works in a university research lab or a multi-shift clinical environment. We ask the right questions upfront so the seating we recommend actually fits your situation — not just the product description.

Pacific Ergonomics also provides ergonomic lab assessments as a separate service. Where our chair specification process focuses on getting the right seating for your bench, an ergonomic assessment goes further — examining all workstation types within your lab, postures, lab table setup, tasks performed, and MSD risk across your entire facility. FAQ About Lab Seating

What is the difference between lab seating and a standard office chair?

Lab seating is built to support the needed bench height. Sometimes this is at 30″ like a desk height typical, but not always. A standard office chair doesn’t have the correct material on the sit, the correct adjustments and sits too low for a 34″ to 36″ lab bench and can’t adjust into that range. Lab chairs and stools use a longer cylinder, different caster materials, and seat surfaces that hold up under chemical cleaning — none of which a standard office chair is designed for.

Can Pacific Ergonomics handle orders for multiple locations across the U.S.?

Yes — that is the typical project for us. We work with organizations that have multiple facilities, different bench heights across departments, and procurement teams that need one consistent specification across every location. We get set up as a supplier with your company if we are not already so we can support the current and future orders. We confirm the configuration for each area and set up a portal so additional locations can reorder without starting the process over.

Do you recommend trying one chair before placing a large order?

Yes but not until the needs analysis has been completed, you understand what the lab seating of choice is being recommended and what it cost. Involve procurement to ensure it fits in the budget. Then once this is vetted, as a last step we recommend getting one chair before you buy a hundred. Sit in it at your actual bench. Get your team involved and Pacific Ergonomics can help facilitate. We help facilitate that process so your team can evaluate the chair in your environment before committing to a full order.

Who This Lab Seating Is For

University and Research Labs

Multiple bench areas, rotating user populations, and procurement processes that require documented specification. We work with university facilities and procurement offices nationwide.

Clinical and Medical Labs

Multi-shift shared workstations where seating sees multiple users daily. Configuration and setup guidance are part of every order so each shift starts correctly.

Pharmaceutical and Biotech

Chemical cleaning protocols eliminate many standard seating materials. We confirm your cleaning agents before specifying anything so the seating surface holds up in your environment.

Industrial and Manufacturing Labs

Continuous multi-shift use requires seating rated for the load. We specify the right weight capacity, casters, and materials for industrial bench environments and confirm floor compatibility before ordering.
